A man who tried to swim across the Cook Strait has reportedly died simply after completing the feat of staying power.
Nick Hobson swam across the strait, but according to the Facebook workforce Wellington Ocean Swimmers died shortly afterwards Friday night.
“It is with nice be apologetic about and enormous disappointment we wish to percentage the news that our buddy Nick Hobson passed on to the great beyond last night following his swim across the Cook Strait,” a poster wrote at the message board.
“His staff, and the rescue helicopter, made each effort to resuscitate him, however they had been unsuccessful. There could be very little else to mention at this degree, because the surprise and unhappiness hit us.”
Photos and video shared by the crowd had showed Hobson swimming with dolphins on his adventure.
A police media spokesman advised Stuff that they spoke back to a report of a unexpected demise at Mana on Friday night.
There used to be no further information on the reason for demise.
At least 130 other people have swum the approximately 23km distance across the strait, in keeping with a website chronicling makes an attempt across the dangerous waterway between North and South Island.
