
Aaron Tveit is officially the winner of a Tony Award after being the sole nominee in his class this yr!
The 37-year-old actor gained the award for Best Performance by way of a Leading Actor in a Musical on the 2020 Tony Awards on Sunday (September 26) on the Winter Garden Theatre in New York City.
Aaron won the award for his performance in the musical Moulin Rouge, but he wasn’t guaranteed the award despite being the one nominee. The Tonys state: “If the Tony Awards Nominating Committee has made up our minds that if there is only one nominee in a category listed, such category will probably be submitted to the Tony Voters which might, through the affirmative vote of sixty (60%) % of the entire ballots solid, grant an Award in that class.”
During his acceptance speech, Aaron teared up while giving some touching phrases.
